8 - Three Tangent Tuesday!

Hey loves! It's my favorite day, I love, love, love TTT! I originally stole this idea from my girl Janae, having no clue how much I would look forward to it each week. Just one more way for me to share how ridiculously lame I am, and how I take total pride in every moment of lame-ness! :)

So, here goes!

Three Tangent Tuesday!

+ I am scared of spin.  Yup. I have never taken a spin class, and I am so intimitated by it! It looks and sounds so hard! My girl (and future neighbor!) Jenn is always raving about spin and how she is going to drag me to the classes. I guess I'll have to put on my big girl panties and just accept that I will get my butt handed to me. Haha.

+ I don't like Mexican food. I know. Everyone just let it out, I'm weird, a freak, un-American (this one always made me laugh... how are you un-American for not liking Mexican food?!), etc. I've heard it all before, and since I seem to be the only one on the planet who doesn't like Mexican food, I get dragged to a lot of Mexican restaurants. So, instead of ordering lots of food I won't like, I choose to go with a simple quesadilla and drink my calories in 2 (or 12) margaritas. Because I may not like Mexican food, but I sure do like smoothies with Mexican tequila!

60 oz baby!

+ I've known my friend Amber since birth. We call each other cousins (though there is no blood relation), and  love her dearly. Basically every childhood memory I have is with Amber, we might as well have been sisters. My mother was married to her uncle, but they were divorced before either one of us was born. My mother remained very close with his family, especially his mother (whom she still considers her surrogate mother) therefor, a wonderful friendship was born.

I'm the blonde in these...

Don't you LOVE early 90's apparel?

Me, Amber, her sister Cassie. I love them so much.

Well, there you go. This week's edition of TTT! I know it's a little late, but I'm back on night shift, so I spent all day getting some ZZZzzz's. Have a great day... or night! :)

Three Tangent Tuesday

It's my favorite day! I love TTT!!

Also, I'm just in a super-duper giddy awesome mood. It's finally March! Do you know all the awesome things that happen in March? Daylight Savings (more sun!), Spring is here!, I have a lot of my friends birthdays, including the lovely Jenn, my soon to be neighbor!! Plus, I GET TO COME HOME! What a great month. I've been in such a great mood all day. Tonight I'm going to see the movie Due Date at the base theater, and tomorrow I'm watching Tangled!! I'm really excited. Anyways, on to TTT!

Three Tangent Tuesday!

+I am obsessed with Disney. No, seriously. Obsessed. Especially anything Princess related. My two favorite Princesses are Ariel and Tiana. But I also love Belle, Jasmine, and Sleeping Beauty. I think the only Disney movies I've ever seen that I didn't like were Snow White ( it's her voice. For some reason it's like nails on a chalkboard. If I watched it on mute with subtitles, I'd be in Disney heaven), Dumbo, Bambi, the first two Toy Stories (I know. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I wasn't a fan. I love the third one, though.), and UP. I think I just hate watching sad Disney movies. I mean, COME ON. I cried in the first ten minutes  of UP. Not cool, Disney, not cool. But anyways, I digress. I am so in love with Disney, and I don't think I will ever grow out of it. Thank God Shane also loves Disney. He may or may not have proposed there... But that's a story for another day!

+My favorite place on Earth is Sea World.  Yeah, I love Disney, but my heart really belongs right down the road at Sea World. My dream job would be to work as a trainer at the Shamu tank. Orcas (killer whales) have been my favorite animals for as long as I can remember, and the thought of working with them every day makes me smile. Alas, it will not happen, but I am just as satisfied to visit them as often as I can. I'm beginning to think that though my first love will always be Jacksonville, maybe Orlando is where I truly belong... Haha.

+Baby Bro is adopted. Yup. My mama and daddy did not decide to procreate 17 years after their first-born arrived in this world. Baby Bro was born into the family by a relative, and through circumstances far too private to divulge on a public blog, he ended up on our doorstep and in our arms ironically enough the weekend I was to graduate high school. He was 5 weeks old, and emotionally scarred. Through constant love and professional help (for motor skills and speech and therapy) he has turned from an infant with no expressions or emotions (what baby won't even cry?) into a beautiful little hellion who is going to make my parent's lives very interesting for the next 11 years. I love him so much, and wouldn't trade him for the world. Even when he doesn't mind me. Which is often.

Yes, his shoes are on the wrong feet. But he was so proud b/c he put them on himself!

Well, that's this week of TTT! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!! Have a great Tuesday everybody!!

Three Tangent Tuesday!

Woohoo! It's Three Tangent Tuesday again!

Okay, maybe not everybody is as excited as I am about TTT, but I've really gotten into the past few weeks. And while it does take me some time to think of things, I love sharing with y'all about the ways I am completely, unabashadly bonkers!! You guys can head on over to Janae's blog and give her all the credit, since she is the one who inspired me to let you guys in on all my dorky secrets! :)

+ I dance. All. The. Time. And I'm pretty much the world's worst dancer. Haha. I dance to music in my own head, and God forbid I hear music out in the real world. I think I could break it down to elevator music. Unfortunately I'm the whitest girl on the planet, and my dancing is like some weird mash up of the Carlton, the Running Man, and that move from Clueless where Brittany Murphy is doing the "Rollin with My Homies" move. Yeah. It's that bad. I think the only place I don't  dance is the club. I hate the club. Haha. I don't like hip hop dancing (mostly because I have no rythem), and I hate dancing (or grinding, as I see it) with guys. Just ask Shane. He gets super mad because I will only two step with him. Haha. My latest creation of dancing is what I call the "Chicken Walk". Yup, you got it. I do, in fact, just walk around like a chicken. Haha.

Me at a Navy Day Ball in 2006

+ I am obsessed with Harry Potter. The books, the movies, Harry Potter World at Universal, games, dolls, shirts, collectibles, etc. I am still not over the fact that I missed the last movie in theaters, and Shane and I will be dressing up for the opening of the next one. Every time a new book was released, I locked myself in my room and read until it was done. Took a few hours each time, but I could not handle it if someone had ruined it for me. So complete exclusion from the outside world was necessary. Haha. I even dragged my best friend's whole family and Shane to Universal Studios in June, a week after the Wizarding World of HP opened, just so I could go before my deployment. We had to wait in line for an hour and a half just to enter the HP part. Oh yeah. I was in heaven. I drank Pumpkin Juice and Butterbeer, and even spent way too much on bought an "authentic" Marauder's Map. Yeah. That's going to be hanging on our walls. I'm not kidding.

We're totally going back this summer. Also not kidding.

Me and Mr. Potter at a wax museum in St. Augustine, FL

Shane and I in front of Hagrid's Hut.

Me and the Siruis Black poster.

+ I love dressing my baby bro up. My mom is so not hip on fashion. Haha. Just kidding. But seriously. So everytime I'm home I have to drag the baby bro (he'll be SEVEN! in April, so I guess he's not that much of a baby....) out and buy some clothes. Sometimes it's just a shirt, other times it's a wardrobe. I love clothes. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Sometimes I wish he was a girl, just because little girl's clothes are more fun... Haha. Most of the stuff I buy him is FL Gators stuff. I have to make sure he's being raised right. :)

Gosh, he's so dang cool.

Well guys, that's it for TTT this week. Look forward to a post later about the fact that it is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, I think this is an important topic.

Have a great day y'all. :)

Three Tangent Tuesday

Ah! I totally forgot until right this moment that today is TTT! Ok, here it goes!

+I am deathly afraid of sharks. No, seriously. I'm not kidding. Like, I will plant my happy butt on the beach and not go in the water. (This is super not fun when you live in Hawaii for 4 years....) Or, if I do go in the water, I am constantly looking around knowing I am about to get yanked underwater by Jaws. I have had this fear since I was a kid, and used to be afraid to get into swimming pools alone, for fear of sharks. YES. Swimming pools. I have since rationalized the swimming pool thing, but the ocean is a huge deal for me. I still go, but it's difficult to hold back the panic. I think it's because I am obsessed with sharks... and the ocean. I watch Shark Week every year, watch every shark scary movie/documentary, and read about them all the time. I even wanted to be a Marine Biologist for a long time. Until I realized that having panic attacks in the ocean would not help my career.

+ That being said.... I have gone shark cage diving. Twice. Yup. It's true. And yes, there were sharks. Lots of white-tip sharks. And a barracuda. Haha. Weird fact? This girl was totally not scared. It was the most fun, ever. I won't go in 3 ft deep water at the beach with no sharks in sight without panicking, but I'll get in a cage in 100 ft of open water surrounded by sharks, and have a blast. I'm crazy. I know.

I really wish I had a picture with a shark, but alas, I don't. This is me in the cage.

Hi there, fella.

I named this guy Jake.

Leaving the cage. I had soooo much fun.

+ I love dressing up like it's the 80's. No seriously. I love it. Bright colors, side ponytail, leg warmers, sequins? Heaven. We volunteered at Relay for Life in Hawaii one year, and the theme was 80's. I was like I don't even care what it's for. I'm there if I can dress up. I then made all my friends go, and took them shopping. They were so embarrassed at first, but I wasn't, I figure people aren't staring because I'm a freak, they're just jealous. :)

My friend told me later it looked like a rainbow puked on us. Heck yes!

I love these girls. :)

Woo hoo. Ready to raise some money for charity!

The whole group.
This was a completely different time.. Just cuz I was feeling like it.

Well, there is this week's TTT! Have a great day!

Three Tangent Tuesday

So, according to today's workout on my schedule (I'll post pictures tomorrow), I was supposed to do the elliptical and work my back on the weight machine.

Except the more I thought about 30 minutes on the elliptical, the more depressed I got. All I wanted to do tonight was run. No lie. And since I was having a sorta bad day (made way better by getting to talk to my Loverface on the phone) and I was coming off a twelve hour shift, I said What the heck. So I ran. And even though my hunk o' burning calves took me out at mile two, I still felt a thousand times better.

Will I regret this decision tomorrow when I have speed work scheduled? Probably. Do I care now? Nope. :)

I felt awesome. I also found a new fun way of reading while running. Usually all the bouncing makes it super difficult. But I brought out my trusty Kindle (this thing is my favorite ever.) and just increased the text size. So I felt like an 80 year old woman, but it kept me entertained! Woot! :)

Now, following once again, in the wonderful and inspiring Janae's footsteps, we have another edition of Three Tangent Tuesday. Here goes!

+ Shane beats me in his sleep. Ok. That's mostly a lie. He more wrestles alligators flounces around and whatnot, but there have been a few times when he has lashed out and struck me awake. Usually it's a smack in the back or something, though once he did elbow me in the eye. I thought for sure I would have a black eye, and get asked all kinds of questions at work. (I didn't. I am SUCH an over-reactor..) So I did what any sane person would do. I elbowed him in the ribs, waking him up, and proceeded to glare at him and guilt trip him for twenty minutes. I thought this was an effective revenge strategy, though I think he's usually so confused as to why I woke him up it doesn't work as well as I hoped. He also told me tonight he can't see the glare in the dark. (Yes, I told him I was outing his abusive nature on my blog. I think he is getting way too used to my crazy antics, as he just shrugged it off.) Needless to say that took the wind right out of my sails. Hmph....

+ I never sucked my thumb as kid. I always sucked on my bottom lip. I say that like it's past tense. It's totally not. I still do it all the time. I try to make myself quit, but most of the time I don't even realize I'm doing it. I have no idea why I started, but it's the truth. I also never took to a pacifier. Ever. Totally weird.

+ I am 3/4 in love with Timmy Tebow. Shane knows and accepts this, though I don't think he likes it.... Haha. But Shane comes first. As long as he doesn't step in front of the tv when a Florida game is on. He learned that lesson. Anyways. I think TT is not only an amazing quarterback that did wonderful things for my team (Go Gators!), but an inspiration and wonderful role model. He makes no qualms about his beliefs, and I respect that. Especially in a world where he could take ridiculous advantage of his status. I respect him as player, a human being, and a Christian. I hope he goes far, and does well. He's also from my hometown.

Anyways. That's my TTT for this week. Y'all have a wonderful day!!! I'm off to bed here in a few minutes!
-Katy

Three Tangent Tuesday

Workout: light weights workout (back) / 25 lunges / 1:30 front plank / 1:00 side planks / 25 squats / 30 minutes elliptical

So my cousin has come up with this new idea for 2012. Apparently it takes 28 days to make (or break!) a habit, so she wants to break (or make!) a new habit each month, and asked for participants. I said, sure why not. I mean, I've kind of made a new habit out of challenging myself... Lol. So my February "habit" is to add 25 squats to the daily routine. Why do I hate my poor legs so much??? Haha.

Sooo. Janae at HungryRunnerGirl has started this new trend called Three Tangent Tuesdays. Basically I just tell you guys three random things about myself. Please don't stop reading because you find out I'm like the weirdest person ever.... Because I probably am.

Three Tangent Tuesday  (RTtA style)

+ I have never, ever seen The Christmas Story. According to all of my friends, this means I'm not an American. I started watching it Christmas '09 when everyone at my house ganged up on me and sat me down in front of the tv, but I thought it was boring, and stopped paying attention... I guess if you didn't grow up watching it, and there's no nostalgic meaning... it's not world-altering. My family always watched White Christmas. Now there's a classic... :)

+ I never remember birthdays. Seriously. Thank the heavens for Facebook.... it keeps me out of many a jam with my friends. It's not that I don't care, I do. I am one of those people that thinks birthdays are super duper special, and love to celebrate them. I'm just awful with dates.... I mean, awful! I feel super guilty about it, too.

+ My best friend Ellie and I are going to open a cupcake/cake bakery. This idea started as a joke one night, and got serious pretty quickly. I don't think anybody actually thinks we're going to go through with it, but we are. I'm super excited about it.

Well, that's my three things for this week. That was kind of fun. :) Have a great day y'all, and wish me luck on my speed run tomorrow!!

Here are some random pics...

They had GREEN lettuce today, so I totally went salad crazy. :) Plus the red pears are delicious!

I PROMISE once I get back to the states, my pictures will have more variety... Lol.
