12 - Travel Bug!

Ok. So when the vitamin bottles say 'Take with food', you should listen. Me, being my stubborn self, did not listen, and now I feel super nauseated. AWESOME.

Anyways. Skipped workouts yesterday, skyping with the best friend on her birthday will win over going to the gym every time. So tonight, I will be there ready to punish my legs and abs. I'm pretty excited, actually. I'm totally feeling DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) in my arms from my workout day before yesterday. I switched up my old weights routine from 3 sets of 15 reps at 15 lbs to 4 sets of 20 reps at 10 lbs. So even though I was doing less weight, it hurt way more. I didn't even do as many different exercises. I will be sticking to this arm routine for a while, I think. :)

(Starting to feel better after eating a Special K Protein meal bar....) Oooooh! I changes my goals page up top (it was a little lackluster to me...) to a To-Do List! You should check it out, it's all the things I want to accomplish in the next 5 years. Some are super easy and small (kissing Shane) to HUGE lifetime miletones (marrying Shane. No, not all of them involve Shane, but most do, since everything I do is more enjoyable when he's with me. Sappy moment of the day...) It's not nearly finished, so if you have any ideas for me, throw 'em at me, and I'll consider them!

I noticed traveling was on there quite a bit, and it got me thinking. First off, Shane and I were planning on trying for a baby right after the wedding. (I've got mad baby fever right now, especially whenever I'm around my goddaughter - I've just gone ahead and claimed her as mine - so this was a tough decision to wait on.) But, then we found out that Shane will be redeploying within a year of coming home. Yes, back to Afghanistan. Sometimes I really, really, really hate the Marine Corps. (I do understand, and I accept it. But I do not have to like the person my life revolves around risking his life.) So, this put an instant halt on baby plans, since I will not be going through this whole baby-making/having/caring for process solo. Nope.

So I figured, since we are putting the brakes on kids for now... Why not use this time to travel, right? I mean, he gets paid leave, I won't be working (unless I have to.... to help pay for these vacations!) and we should use this time to travel while we can before having to make sure all family vacations are child-proof. Well, that's the plan.

Where would you travel? The place I want to go most is Greece! Shane also really wants to go there, so that's a plus! In America, it would be NYC, probably!

  2. What a great positive way to look at it! You take what circumstances you're given, and then make the best of it---traveling sounds like an awesome way to do that :)

  3. As much as I desperately want a baby, I am enjoying the time I get with my husband and all the things I can do that people with children can't. Travel is definitely at the top of that list, along with 8-10 hours of sleep.

I've actually been to Greece and it is really cool. The cruise around the islands was my favorite part, I think.

  4. I definitely would pick skyping with my bff over a day at the gym too! I really want to travel too, and I think it's great that you and Shane BOTH want to go to Greece. That'll make things so much easier. I love Greece so so much. Haven't been since 2009, and I miss it. You're seriously going to love it!

  5. There are some really great cruises to Greece and other countries around that area. My sister and law went on one for her honeymoon and LOVED it. Might be a more inexpensive way to do it too (and see more than one place).

It's lame...but besides Maui (which I went to for my honeymoon...and you've already seen), I really want to see Alaska and Vancouver. I hope to hit them both up in one vacation this year.

  6. You might as well travel when you're young & have the opportunity. I'd love to go to Greece too, as well as New Zealand & Australia!

  7. You have your whole life with him baby-free, so this is the time you guys can spend together traveling and doing things you love. I have just started to realize that in my own relationship!

  9. I love your positive attitude and I admire you, and all military wives/girlfriends so much! There is no way I'd be able to stand it! As for traveling, I love Madrid and Rome. As for America? I'd love to go to Colorado, Arizona and Cape Cod! :)

  11. P and I keep talking about babies, Italy and NYC. hehe. We don't know what squadron we're going to or when he is deploying but the goal is to try for a baby RIGHT BEFORE he deploys. i can be preggo alone, but baby alone? i'd probably lose it! Our lives are so super complicated thanks to the USMC. But I get it. we chose this. boo

I'm so glad someone else knows what i'm going through right now! i'm here if you ever need to talk/vent/whatevs! <3
