It Hurts....Again

It's one of those gym days. I went today and bought a pair of Nike Tempo running shorts (they were on sale at the Exchange) because I love all the fun colors, but hate running in shorts. They always bunch up on me in the inner thighs, and I spend the whole time trying to pull them down, so I don't look like a trashy hootchie mama. But, I read some really good reviews saying these don't bunch, and they are so popular, I figured, heck, if everyone is buying them, they must be not be too bad, right?

Wrong. I think I just run weird, because those suckers got sucked up almost immediately. It's like my girly parts are a running shorts vacuum. So... these will be used for non running activities. They are super comfy, though, so I may get a few more pair for lifting and such. Especially since I think I might be injured. AGAIN.

Yes, it's true. I left the gym defeated and wanting to cry the whole 1/2 a mile or so walk home. The worst part is that it's not the same place I was hurt before. It's like my legs really don't like me. I'm 24 for crying out loud, I should not be this injury-prone! I'm trying not let it get me super upset, but darn it! I really like running. I like how it makes me feel, and if I miss a day of running, I want it to be because it's my choice, not because my legs hurt. Plus, I hate, hate, hate, hate the elliptical. And my butt falls asleep on the bike. Remember, no cushion back there.... Haha.

I mean, if it still hurts this bad tomorrow, I guess I just have to suck it up, and ellipticize my life (and hopefully a few pounds...) away. But I'm still kind of sad. I just want them to be strong, and stop getting hurt. I noticed when I was doing my lunges everyday, they seemed better. I think I'm going to start doing more leg work, and pull back on running for a while. Though it breaks my little heart. :(

Oh well. It happens, and I will get through it. Who knows, maybe I'll come back to the States and fall in love with spin. :)

  2. I wear Nike Tempo shorts all the time. I just ordered another pair from Nike.com for only $15! But I do agree, I usually can't run in them. I mess with them too much. I'll wear them for short runs but not if I'm doing a long run because I just don't want to think about it.

I hope your leg feels better! I've been toughing out some leg pain, too, and am finally starting to feel better.

  3. It's best to take a break, so you don't get injured from all exercise! There's tons of good stuff on running websites or blogs that take about running form you could check out or get your running gait checked out for correct shoes when you return back to the US.

You should still fall in love with spin though, so fun! Plus, it is a million times better than the elliptical.

  5. chin up girl! I feel the same way about injuries because my body always seems to be aching and twinging somewhere. Sometimes you just have to step back from running for a bit- but it will always feel awesome when you go back to it :-)

  6. Running shorts are the devil! They always ride up and leave me feeling chafed and naked.

I hope your legs feel better soon!

  10. New Follower here! (It seems we have the same taste in blog layout!) I know what you mean about the shorts. I feel SO self-conscious! Tempos are SO cute. I have one pair. I wish they were cheaper.

I am also 24, and I also seem to be quite injury prone. It has to be something about the way I run because it's always my achilles tendon that gets hurt.

I hope you find a pair that works!

  12. Ugh, I'm so sorry to here about your legs. Ice, rest, elevation. I really hope you feel better, but the elliptical can be fun if you find a good interval-type workout. :) Stay strong!

  14. I haven't tried Nike's Tempo running shorts. But I LOVE Lululemon's Run: Speed Short. I swear by all 3 pairs that I have in different colours.

I hope your legs heal soon!

  15. Don't push your body to work through that pain you may need to vary up your workouts a bit and take a full day off of running. I'd say try doing some upper body strength to get your arms stronger... So many people forget that we pump our arms when we run and we need to be strong in our upper body to take the stress OFF our legs when we run! Pumping your arms when running is something you should make an effort to consciously do, you'll see improvements I swear
